Dixie Schreiber was born in Muscatine, Iowa, in 1967. Dixie’s father died when she was very young. In 1983, when Dixie was still in high school, she met 20yr old Scott Shanahan. They started dating, and in 1984 when her family moved to Texas, Dixie decided to move to Defiance, Iowa, a small town with, at that time, just over 300 people, to live with Scott’s parents.
