The hotel staff was very unprofessional, calling the lady everything but a child of God. I understand the mother was out of line but being in the professional business you have to remain professional no matter the situation. The hotel staff was obnoxious.

So, if your mom can just catch a flight to get your kids, why didn’t you ask for money to get a room, and why didn’t you get them before all of this so they would have somewhere to go? I worked quite a bit of retail and I have seen mothers having their children help them steal many times. I also graduated in child development and it makes me so mad seeing women teach their children this garbage. A lot of it is learned behavior and why you see so many young children stealing. I’ve seen where mom makes them walk out with the loaded cart thinking they can’t charge a minor but they both end up charged or mom charged and cfs/relative called for the child.
Luke should be fired for not alerting that his master key was missing. It really could have been much worse by entering any room she wanted to with that master key.

Employers need to drill safe key handling practices to all new employees and not give master keys to an employee until they absolutely need one and have proven that they are responsible with a limited access key. Also, too many employers give master keys to employees rather than a key that only open a small number of doors during the hours that employee is working. This is more work, but dealing with the police, lawsuits and horrible headlines is way more work, so do it right the first time.

Also, as a former hotel employee, I am deeply surprised that staff would be so careless with master keys. You’re usually not permitted to have them anyplace other than your actual person or secured in a drawer location. They’re not supposed to just be chilling out on the counter for Amy and everybody to see, touch and grab!

This type of behavior is potentially very dangerous for anyone who might rent that room in the future if the motel doesn’t monitor that room key closely. They’ll have to be very inventive with key codes or start using a more secure service to keep her out!

Those keys should be accounted for at the end of every shift. I’ve had to turn around and go right back to work after I had already pulled up in my driveway to go return my keys that I forgot to turn in. The keys should never be left anywhere where they can be stolen, mine stay on a lanyard around my neck the entire shift that I’m responsible for them

This is why you can’t lay down and have unprotected sex with just anybody. Stealing clothes for your kids on a daily basis, especially kids that little that get dirty fast and a lot and “peed their pants” is crazy… She literally said, “He peed his pants and I don’t have no clothes for them” then they search her property, find brand new outfits for them with tags on them that she most likely stole earlier. There’s an easy way to tell when she’s lying, her lips move! I get she’s doing what she does to have somewhere to stay with her kids but she’s going about it wrong. Homelessness is rapidly in my hometown. So many families without shelter. Section 8 wait list can be up to 10 yrs. I know. I had a niece that it took that long. People are no longer able to afford exhorbant rent prices. People who were paying affordable rent have been priced out by new management including Section 8 housing owners have increased rents so high they know tenants cannot afford their share hence a way to get certain groups of people in my city a large Somali population. A way to not rent to them. It’s been in the news. Families are left with no where to go. Homeless shelters are full. It’s a mess. Families are living in extended stay hotels which are terribly expensive. Some agencies have set families up in hotels as a temporary fix while they try to find permanent housing. Some people can’t get housing because of bad credit due to divorce bankruptcy job loss medical bills evictions and the like. It’s really rough out here. So many people living in their cars. EBT no help if you have no where to store and cook food. You can’t buy hot prepared foods with EBT. I knew a lady living out of her pickup with some kind of makeshift way to use a mini fridge and hotplate. Man it is so sad. People are resorting to stealing to have a safe clean room for the night. Can you imagine living day to day not know where your next meal or place to stay is going to come from and be? It’s horrible. People don’t want to lose their kids to foster care and just at their wits end. God help us all.

I worked quite a bit of retail and I have seen mothers having their children help them steal many times. I also graduated in child development and it makes me so mad seeing women teach their children this garbage. A lot of it is learned behavior and why you see so many young children stealing. Employers need to drill safe key handling practices to all new employees and not give master keys to an employee until they absolutely need one and have proven that they are responsible with a limited access key. Also, too many employers give master keys to employees rather than a key that only open a small number of doors during the hours that employee is working. This is more work, but dealing with the police, lawsuits and horrible headlines is way more work, so do it right the first time.

Homelessness is rapidly in my hometown. So many families without shelter. Section 8 wait list can be up to 10 yrs. I know. I had a niece that it took that long. People are no longer able to afford exhorbant rent prices. People who were paying affordable rent have been priced out by new management including Section 8 housing owners have increased rents so high they know tenants cannot afford their share hence a way to get certain groups of people in my city a large Somali population. A way to not rent to them. It’s been in the news. Families are left with no where to go. Homeless shelters are full. It’s a mess. Families are living in extended stay hotels which are terribly expensive. Some agencies have set families up in hotels as a temporary fix while they try to find permanent housing. Some people can’t get housing because of bad credit due to divorce bankruptcy job loss medical bills evictions and the like. It’s really rough out here. So many people living in their cars. EBT no help if you have no where to store and cook food. You can’t buy hot prepared foods with EBT. I knew a lady living out of her pickup with some kind of makeshift way to use a mini fridge and hotplate. Man it is so sad. People are resorting to stealing to have a safe clean room for the night. Can you imagine living day to day not know where your next meal or place to stay is going to come from and be? It’s horrible. People don’t want to lose their kids to foster care and just at their wits end. God help us all.
