Crazy Grocery Store Thief Runs From Police Over and Over
On September 12, 2024, an officer with the Orlando police department was working as a detail unit for Publix. The Police Report states that While inside the store, The officer was notified by the store manager that he observed a white male actively concealing items in his pockets. The officer observed the suspect discard a bottle of conditioner from his left pocket, remove a bottle of shampoo from his right pocket, and hand it to the officer, simultaneously apologizing profusely. At that point, the suspect was detained pending further investigation. When the officer asked the suspect to come with him to the front, he immediately began running away towards the front door in an attempt to resist lawful detention. A pursuit ensued as the suspect exited the store and ran southbound in the parking lot. The officers bodycam captures the following minute of footage without audio after he clicks the record button. the police report continues stating the officer caught up with suspect after cutting off his path on the sidewalk, which he then turned northbound to run. However, the suspect tripped over himself and fell. he then attempted to get up, but the officer pushed him off balance to stop him from running again.
The man was then transported to the hospital due to the officer tackling him multiple times where he refused medical treatment. He was then taken to the orange county jail where he was charged with BATTERY ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER for the officers small injuries during the pursuit, RESISTING OFFICER WITHOUT VIOLENCE, and RESISTING OFFICER WITH VIOLENCE.
